Anja Albosta is an artist known for her vibrant, layered works that explore the interconnectedness of our world. Born in Munich to a German father and a Californian mother, Anja's diverse background informs her art, which reflects her fascination with the global web of roots that link our forests, oceans and atmosphere. ‘From stardust to the salt in the sea, we are all made of the same elements. Every painting is an attempt to shift viewers closer to these universal truths.’
Her artistic practice is characterised by the use of real-world events, book and news clippings and painted elements in water-soluble oil, gold and silver leaf. Anja's current series, ‘Earth-rise,’ pays homage to our planet, inspired by the 1968 Apollo 8 Mission photo. Her past series have explored themes such as climate change, geopolitics, social-ecological justice and local landscapes.
Anja's artistic journey has been shaped by her apprenticeship at Architect BDA Kurt Tempel, Erlangen, Germany and her degree in Interior Design & Decoration from Rhodec International, England as well as her travels to over 15 countries, including Croatia, Greece, Sri Lanka and Mexico. She has exhibited her work in various galleries, including Peephole Gallery in Yachats, Timberline Gallery in Oakhurst and Sierra Artist Gallery in Mariposa, California.
